The Christian hope is unique because it does not avoid death, nor simply oppose death; it absorbs it.

Death is swallowed by resurrection. Cruelty is absorbed by forgiveness. Mockery is absorbed by charity.

Jesus' Love took in all of these things and proved stronger.

On Easter, we rejoice: "He is risen!"

The words contain every ounce of defeated darkness. They contain the hope of a greater power. They contain a call to Love fearlessly in the midst of pain.

It's pretty unbelievable, so we turn to each other to hear it back:

"He is risen indeed!"
